I first thought my lump problem was already a history thanks to the successful surgery.
I was obviously wrong.
A week after the surgery, my surgeon said pathology study on the excavated darn lump showed it was stained with cancer cells.
“You’ve had a thyroid carcinoma of the papillary variant, and due to its character I must tell you it’s very likely that you’re still plagued by it,” doc said.
I was stunned. Darn you lump!
Doc says an ablation using radioactive agent called RAI 131 is necessary to eradicate any remaining cancer cells.
I could be free from thyroid cancer. Post ablation, however, I will have to depend on hormonal therapy to get by every day for the rest of my life.
Sigh!
